Mentre i ragazzi di crescono John continua a battersi nelle corse in auto con grande foga fino a quando, non viene investito da una persona ubriaca e ucciso. Nel frattempo Terry viene mandato in Vietnam e non si trova più, Debbie invece fa carriera come cantante ed ha un gran successo. Steve e Laurie si sposano e hanno due bellissimi gemelli ma poi si separano per ritrovarsi poco dopo nel bel mezzo di una manifestazione studentesca.
